If you were asking seriously, I always thought that what Sean was discouraging was a difference of opinion between forum members... like "I bought a tenor tuba from LANShark and boy was it a piece of crap... won't play below F to save it's dented mouthpipe!", which used to be a lot more common.
I think hacker rip-offs were (are) another thing entirely. But I'm not surprised that Sean didn't want to take a FORMAL position of policing eBay.
Over time, lots of "I can't believe that they're still trying this <insert auction here> posts have been made, but I think the proper thing when you find one is point it out, and notify the auction authorities.
