How to wash a TubaChristmas hat

Post by timdicarlo »

I figure if anybody would know this it would be a TubeNetter. What's the best way to wash a TubaChristmas hat (the knit one with the puff ball on top) without ruining it? It doesn't seem machine washable...
Thanks guys!

Try Woolite... :|
I was thinking that perhaps you can put your tuba in a secure stand so the bell is up. Add warm water to about 3" below the bell flare and the appropriate amount of Woolite.

Do you plug the mouth pipe or do you put in the mouthpiece and blow to provide the agitation effect to the wash?

I'll vote for second option...

Just let it mellow- improves the overall tone, as it were.

The trick is finding the right volunteering plug for the bottom bow:

Get a fifth of Everclear for cleaning fluid and gently rinse in a small bowl. If Everclear is not available, then substitute a jug of fortified Muscatel.
