I was looking at a cerveny tuba on ebay (see ebay post) and I have come across two different 4 valve model numbers.
One is an ACB-603 Cerveny Piggy, and another is the CCB-603 Cerveny Piggy. I have heard that the "A" might designate it was an Amati tuba. Is there a difference between the two or is just a matter of stamping? Any idea on age with a serial number that is 31129? Thanks!

Cerveny is the more up-market brand from the Amati manufacturer. Probably the Cerveny version has some refinements, like nickel silver slides, but they will not play that different.

Jonathan is right.
The Amati versions are made of brass rather than nickel silver. I have even seen Amati’s having their ball&socket transmission links made out of brass. That speaks against durability, but then I have tried such a modestly outfitted Amati oval Bb Tenorhorn, which was extremely responsive and playable.

All of the Cerveny Piggies I have seen are yellow brass. Are you referring to finish, or just the trim?
The new Piggies sold by Dillon Music are yellow brass with silver accents (including a silver bell garland).
Is one of the two models more popular than the other for any particular reason in regard to playability?
Thank you
