I had the great fortune to attend the Montclair State University Octubafest this weekend in Montclair New Jersey. The two out of three recitals that I attended featured the students of MaryAnn Craig, Kyle Turner and John Palatucci.
These teachers and students are to be highly commended. They put together an extremely enjoyable set of performances with a great variety of music displaying their talent, technical facility, and at times a great sense of humor too. For me, the highlight was hearing Kyle Turner perform A movement from a Bach flute sonata, the premier of his brother, Kerry Turner's Sonatina for Tuba, and the Monti Cszardas. The word that best describes his performance is INSPIRATIONAL. Bravo to the faculty and students of Montclair State University.

Re: MSU Octubafest
I'll add my "bravo" too. I was only at the Jason Ham recital on Saturday night, but the enthusiastic atmosphere must mean that the whole event was great.
Jason was terrific. It was so impressive to hear that Cosma Concerto played in person.
Good stuff. Well done, MSU.
