Sousaphone Case Mods

Post by humnbass »

Guys,

I have a molded conn sousaphone case that looks exactly like the SKB 380 except for the wheels. I would hate to spend 440.00 on a case just to have one with the wheels when I already have this case. I thought at one point, with the older skb cases that they sold the wheel assembly separately. However, I haven't been able to find one. Is there a wheel assembly that I can buy for my case? If not, what would be the best method of adding wheels? I would hate to drill into the case as I would be afraid of compromising it's integrity. any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

thanks.

The hand cart method works for me as well, but some airlines might charge for it as an extra piece of checked luggage (that has happened to me once or twice.) I have not seen or been able o figure out a simple way to add wheels to my old SKB case, and I don't think there would be a way without attaching through the shell of the case at some points.
