Conn 24J valve water

Last night at rehearsal I had to pull the bottom cover off of valve 1 on my 24j. When I did that, a bunch of water come flowing out, trapped in the area around the spring alignment bump. I am thinking this is probably not a good thing, have any of you made any mods to help the valves drain? Thanks

First off.... check the vertical alignment of your pistons. There's not much of a 'land' between ports to serve as a seal surface and just a little bit of wear or mis-alignment will increase 'blow-by'.

That being said... it's not unusual to get a little water in the bottom caps but just tipping the horn side-to-side should allow it to drain out... unless there is a lot of 'gunk' in the bottom of the spring or the drain hole is clogged.

I have that problem as well. If I am playing Gb or low C and hear a gurgling sound. After I check and empty my water keys, empty out my slides and I still hear the gurgling - I pull the third valve, remove the spring and blow the collected water out through the bottom cap. My valves could stand to be replated, I think.
