Does the Meinl-Weston 2141 E-flat tuba have a 4th valve which is larger than the first three?
I would assume that Meinl-Weston uses the same "big valve" set on these, but the specs do not say so.
I'm wondering if Meinl-Weston makes a straight .748" valve set just for the 2141.
If you have a 2141, could you pull out the 4th valve slide and see if it fits in the tubing of valves 1 through 3?
Thanks,
Christian

Re: MW 2141 question
The 4th valve does indeed fit the other casings which are about 1.08" diameter (sorry I don't have a micrometer or metric ruler handy) so the .748" bore sounds about right.
The ideal might be to have the bore expand as it passes through the valve system, but I suppose that would be too much trouble to manufacture. It would prevent mixing up the valves, though (I once did that on another tuba and it took half an hour to get them back into the right places!)

Re: MW 2141 question
Can you pull the 4th slide out and see if one side will fit in the first or third?
My 2265's fourth piston is the same diameter as 1 through 3, but the ports are larger on the 4th.

Re: MW 2141 question
Sorry about the previous answer, you wanted the slide bore, not the valve diameter.
(I had just returned from 6hours of successive rehearsals for two different events and was really dragging.)
The first three slides are just a tad less than 3/4" and the fourth slide is about 1/16" larger (and will not fit in the first valve port). Hope this is what you want.
