Very nice - congratulations. Nothing wrong buying new - especially when it sounds like you got a deal. You got the horns you wanted and at the time you wanted them without a lot of hassle or running around looking at horns that a private seller has grossly misrepresented. I think we all at some time or another have or will buy a new one - even Bloke has admitted to it.

Sometimes you find a great horn that as Joe says is gently used and a great deal. Being in the business he sees these oppourtunites more than most. And if no one bought new tubas there would be no one with gently used ones for Joe (and the rest of us) to buy our gently used ones from!

Just remember New Tuba Buyers - don't use vegetable oil on the valves because Joe won't buy your shiny-new-looking used horn even for $65!

Beautiful horns!

It will be interesting to follow how your theory on adopting to the CC fingering works, i.e. using the treble clef transposition mindset. Eb tuba works very well from treble, Bb is more challenging (I'm a little older than you and so my mind would sometimes wander and my fingers then defaulted to TC, not pretty) and I've been wondering about CC fingering and your approach.

Thanks.
