A Rather unusual mid 1800s tuba
Saw this photo in a Smithsonian exhibit in DC a few days ago - a member of a New England sewing machine factory brass band from around 1875 or so (maybe older than that.) I don't think I have seen a bell flare quite like this before!
don't have much more info than that...

Wow! A TARV 4-valve Eb! And I thought Isaac Fisk was the first one to do that. Great tuba!

The picture was a very small part of an exhibit in the American History Museum called "Communities in a Changing Nation"

That bell flare suggests the influence of the Saxhorn family, not unusual for that time period.
