I have no more than just tried a 5198, but thought it played well with a sound not much different from the rotary Neptune.

I believe Sam Elliot, Principal Tuba of the BBC Symphony Orchestra plays a 5198, so you may be best dropping him an email for feedback on how it works in a professional orchestra - samelliott@fineartsbrass.co.uk" target="_blank

you have to make that note happen on this horn. you might try with the 4th valve if lipping it won't do it for you.
