I recently acquired a Conn 40K sousaphone. I noticed there is a crack in the metal right below where the gooseneck connects. Not knowing much about instrument repair on an 80+ year old instrument A) how bad is this to repair? B) Any suggestions on who to take this to in the Kansas City area to take it to for repair? I don't mind driving a reasonable distance to take it to an expert.

Of course, your correct though... The horn is "toast". I'm willing to shell out $20 for "scrap brass".
Please don’t sell it to bloke! Last time he put his magic on a 40K, it ended up being out of plastic.
(Ain’t even jealous on the OP, as I have my own 40K).
