Now there's a Weapon of Mass Destruction! :D
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Anyone have reason to think this instrument might not sound awful? Just curious. I don't know anything about it, just seems pretty far off the normal range of variation on bell size ... so, A) if that could possibly work, we'd have seen more tubas like it, or B) sure, it worked for the Russians, or they wouldn't have done it (repeatedly, this isn't really unique.)

With its large bell throat and small flair it reminds me of the St.Pete tubas. I cannot see any reason why it should not have a good full sound

You bet, couple years back when they came through. I don't know CC orchestral tubas well enough to recognize by sight -- PT-something?

Romanians, Macedonians etc. like Fanfarra Ciocarlia, Kočani Orkestar, Boban Markovic use helicons, but Czech style instruments with more ordinary bell dimensions. Acoustically a whole lot like that CC tuba.

To my eye, it's way different from anything I've seen but other Russian helicons. I think that swollen bell would look might queer re-wrapped like a St Pete, but maybe my eyes deceive me here.
