The faculty quartet in residence at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, "Ensemble Nouveau" will present our debut recital LIVE on Wisconsin Public Radio at 12:30 Central Time on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 on the "Live from the Chazen (Museum of Art in Madison, WI)" concert series. You can access the live broadcast on WPR.ORG and click with "listen now" button on the classical music side of WPR. Or you could attend the free concert in person in Madison.
This quartet is made up of an interesting instrumentation from our UW-Platteville faculty:
Dave Cooper, Trumpets
Allen Cordingley, Saxophones
Matt Gregg, Horn, trumpet, flugel, mellophone
Mike Forbes, Tubas (Miraphone CC, Yamaha 822 F,) euphonium (Besson Prestige) and bass trombone (my new SHIRES!!)
Keith Lienert, percussion
The program is an especially entertaining one--from Renaissance to Kent Eshelman's Salsa!! It's always a great deal of fun to play with fabulous faculty colleagues, but I must say, it's an absolute thrill to be able to play jazz in a group with a trumpet player who can blow amazing changes AND an actual saxophonist!!! If you ever get to put a group together involving a saxophonist; don't hestitate!
