Sousaphone shipping cost?
Just out of curiosity, what would it cost to ship a fiberglass sousaphone from central US to the east coast? Just a ballpark figure, of course, because I don't have shipping weights and all of the other info. But I figure someone has done it in the past

Re: Sousaphone shipping cost?
It depends on many factors:
What method: UPS, FedEx, Greyhound.
Case or no case?
If you are buying from an organization that ships many items, they might receive lower rates than a person walking into a shipping companies depot. I have been told (but I haven't confirmed this personally) that using a UPS Store to ship is more expensive than going directly to UPS directly.
If you ship Greyhound, it is cheaper but you might have trouble tracking your item;

I have had the best luck using UPS.

No case - they are two old Conns that a friend grabbed when he was cleaning out an old bandroom. I want to get them up and working again - I live out east now, but the last time I looked at them they just needed a deep cleaning, some valve caps, and maybe some custom touches.
Thanks for the info
