Hello all,
I recently purchased a Monster Conn Eb tuba on this forum, and while I like the horn, I think I'd like to add a fifth valve sooner rather than later. The trick is that I don't want to ship the horn, and I'm in the Chicago area. Does anyone know of someone in the Chicago area (or someone within reasonable driving distance of the Chicago area) with experience with this type of work? Last I paid attention, Wayne Tanabe was trying to sell The Brass Bow, but I have no idea what became of that, and I can no longer find their web site.
Thanks,
Scott

Brass Bow is long gone. I use Mark Sorlie for trombone work, he is in Cary. ph: 847-639-0477
He is an area expert; a great repair guy and well connected to either fix or refer your job.
Good luck, tell him John Klatt sent you..

Chris Olka in Seattle is selling some valves. Maybe he can help.

Lee Stofer would likely be the closest and your best bet...

Lee's around three hours away. He's done this kind of thing many times.

If you can, give Dana Hofer a shout at Fix This! Musical Instrument Repair http://fixthisinstrumentrepair.com/index.html
Dana started at The Brass Bow and was at Karnes until Music and Arts managed to corporatize a good thing.

Thanks all. I think I'll send Lee Stofer an e-mail to see if he has the time.
Bloke - if I were to put the rotor valve after the main tuning slide, I'd end up needing a 21 mm rotor valve. It's been several years since I last looked, but I'd assume that those are easier to come by.
Thanks,
Scott
