Info about Conn L tuba mpc?

Post by willako »

Hi,
I have a Conn L tuba mouthpiece with a 30mm inner diameter. Does anyone know what instrument or purpose Conn intended this for?

I never thought of asking, but I believe it was Mike Finn who posted page 19 from an old Conn catalogue to show the source of his new H mouthpiece. On this catalogue page I saw a conn LTD or D on the mouthpiece, but no L. I was just curious. The Conn L is a shallow funnel with a 30mm diameter inner rim. Perhaps it comes from another page of the same catalogue or from a different time period, or it might be for a euphonium. William.

Sounds to me like the predecessor of the 7B.

Conn used "L" and "S" designations whenever two mouthpieces were supplied as part of the kit, i.e. a mellophpone which went from F/Eb/D/C. I have also heard of them using the designation for throat size ala Bach. How either of those fit in here is another question...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
