FREE Low Brass Gala Concert - St. Louis - 1/18/11

Didn't see this on the board, but hope they draw a good crowd. It's at the Sheldon Concert Hall which is an amazing place to hear brass. If you're within easy drive to St. Louis, this will be worth it.
The St. Louis Low Brass Collective is proud to present The Third Annual Low Brass Spectacular Gala Concert!

On Tuesday, January 18th at 7:30pm, The St. Louis Low Brass Collective is proud to present a Low Brass Spectacular Gala Concert featuring the finest low brass musicians performing in the perfect acoustics of the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Blvd. St Louis, MO 63108).

Admission is free and open to everyone!

Features will include:
- The premier performance of a piece commissioned by the St. Louis Low Brass Collective written by the Director of Composition Studies at Webster University Kim Portnoy
- Legendary dixieland sousaphonist Red Lehr
- Members of the St. Louis Symphony Trombone Section
- Members of the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America
- The area's finest low brass musicians including faculty members from SIUE, UMSL, Washington University and Webster University

There will be a reception following the concert.

Red Lehr is a special talent and was great to see him live last night. I was also blown away by the commissioned composition of Kim Portnoy for the Saint Louis Low Brass Collective - titled "Three Prayers". Just fantastic.

Nice job with the Emcee work last night, Jeff! And congrats on a great event.
