Adult orthodonics and tuba playing

I have a moderate overbite that needed correction back when I was a kid. It was never done due to a variety of reasons. Now, at fifty two years of age and forty years of tuba playing, the overbite is getting worse and starting to cause pain when playing for extended sessions. My questions are:
1. How many of you got braces as adults?
2. How did it affect your playing?
3. If it affected your playing, how did you deal with it?
