I never thought that was weird until just now... I checked my copy of the part (don't have the score) and it's a G natural as well. A.J. Plays an G natural on the recording of the CSO brass quintet on the Portrait of an Artist CD... but G sharp does sound more fun, I'm interested to know what the correct pitch is.

Now that you mention it - it is interesting to think about. American BQ, Center City, et. al. play G natural just like the part reads, but you may be on to something.
