Hello. How many tubas did Warren Deck play throughout his career and in what years did he play them. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Tim

Warren's Tubas
His last few years in the Phil. he had a big Nirschl CC and a handmade 45SLPs. Chris Olka bought the Nirschl and at one point had the 45SLP too but I think he sold it. Earlier I believe Warren played on various versions of the MW 2165s.

Hi,
I know there were 2 MW 2165's that he played and I think both of them were sold, I got to play on the one that Scott mendoker sold. I think Ed Diefus had one of them , but I thought I saw that he had put it up for sale. I know that Mike Lynch has the tuba that he won the job on (I think it was an alex with a conn valve set or something, it was some kind of frankenhorn and I think it didn't have a reciever). But, Scott and Mike would know much better than I would.
I hope that helps a little,
Bill Pritchard

Like many major orchestral tubists, I'm sure that Warren Deck has owned many horns over the years.
He is said to have started winning jobs on a rotary Meinl Weston CC and (I think) a Holton CC.
Most recently Warren Deck has been noted as playing several different Meinl Weston tubas: 2165s, a few 2155s, a 2000 or two, and a handful of 45SLPs.
Someone already brought up the frankenhorns he has owned (Conn Geib, etc.)

Warren Deck used a Meinl-Weston 32 (Standard Model) to win the Houston Symphony and as one of three instruments for the New York Philharmonic audition. See the web site below (part of the Meinl-Weston web site).
