Leonard Lebow: Suite for Brass

Post by bherhold »

Have been trying to get a copy of the Lebow, Suite For Brass quintet, written around 1952, and now out-of-print. He wrote more than one "Suite for Brass," but the one I'm trying to find has three movements entitled: "March, Blues, Reel." The piece was recorded in the mid 50's by the Chicago Symphony Brass. Any help would be appreciated. You may contact me at: bch1943@sbcglobal.net" target="_blank" target="_blank Thank you.

Took your advice and tracked down the piece to the Oberlin Library. Unfortunately Oberlin reports that the work in "Missing." Which means it is either misfiled or stolen. However, considering that I haven't played or heard the piece in 55 years, how important could it really be?

I think I made an edition of it. The problem is to find it. I did it from MS parts. I'll look for it. I don't believe the 5tet version played by the Chicago group was ever published.

The Suite I'm after contains the following three movements: MARCH, BLUES, REEL.

IF this is the one you have I'd love to have a copy.

Thanx,

Thanks to Dr. Henry Howey, of Sam Houston State University, I now have a score and set of parts for the Lebow Suite. I look forward to playing it this week, 57 years after my last performance of the work. Thank you, Dr. Howey.
