Separate Thread for Stolen Gear

Post by SousaSaver »

I think this would be a good idea. Give "Stolen Gear" it's own thread so that we all can help in reuniting players with their horns.

Users could post photos, serial numbers and email information so that we as a community can work together to help each other.

On the bright side, if a Tuba is returned to it's owner, the original poster could tell everyone and maybe there will be hope for humanity yet.

I was actually considering a web project to build a tuba/euph instrument registry. Tracks things like make, model, origin, serial numbers, pictures. Users would be protected behind authentication for anonymity (as they are on TN) and people could easily "flag" their horn as stolen. Stolen instruments would fly up to the homepage with information about the theft. Maybe I can figure out a way for it to cross-post over to Facebook, Twitter, and even Tubenet if the forum gods allow. Users would also be able to talk to previous owners of instruments to get opinions, help, etc. Maybe for sale ads since much of the data would already be there. I know how people hate for sale ads without good detail and pics. Other functions down the road. All free of charge of course.

Haven't really mapped out the functionality yet, but curious what people might think about it.

Already have some domain name ideas for it. Whatcha think?
