Advice to buyers having difficulty with sellers

I know none of the details of a situation currently being discussed in other threads, and I hope this thread doesn't devolve into that discussion.

But in general terms, there is always one piece of good advice to someone who has fronted a payment for something he or she has not received. At least if you paid with a credit card.

My advice is that as soon as you realize you haven't received what you paid for (30 days after making payment is a pretty good rule of thumb unless you previously arranged with the seller for a longer period), make a request to your credit card for return of the funds. Once you make that request, the burden shifts to the seller to prove you received what you paid for - otherwise you get your money back.

Then, you can move on and leave the issue (including bankruptcy, etc.) between the seller and the credit card company.

(Unsolicited advice from someone whose employment requires him to give that same advice frequently.)

A leather slapper/sap and a threat of concrete shoes often get results.

The problem with both these solutions is that the seller may have spent the money you sent him on a Glock.

One Glock (and I really wish they made solid slide 34's, I suspect the aftermarket 35 slides rely on the hotter round to cycle properly) vs 40 M16's.
