Hi Guys,
I am a huge fan of the recording "Big Fat Brass" by Billy May. It's probably my favourite brass cd ever, and certainly the one I played the most. For those who don't know it, it's available in two different versions on Spotify, and it's offered as an mp3 download for a few bucks at tubagear.com.
Now I was wondering if the sheet music for this project survived, and if so, where it could be found / purchased / hired. Does anyone here have an idea where to start searching? I'd be grateful for any bit of information that could help me in the right direction.

You might try contacting Jack Mirtle - he wrote an excellent discography of Billy May's recordings. (He also compiled a disco for Spike Jones!)
The Music of Billy May: A Discography. Greenwood Press. ISBN 978-0-313-30739-3
I don't have any contact info for him and there is not much turning up on the net, but I do know another discographer who might have some info.

Boy! That brings back memories. I was exposed to that recording about 1961-62 at audiophile's house who was a friend of my dad. He, and that recording, influenced me to launch a project to build my own stereo with his help. By the time I got to college I had improved it to the point that most of the guys in the music department showed up at my room to listen to our favorite recordings. Thanks for the memories. French horns or mellophones are noticibly better than saxes, BTW!
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

You could try contacting sackbut/trombonist Adam Woolf of His Magesty's Cornetts and Sackbuts. He transcribed a lot of this material for a band about 10 years ago in London.
