I purchased the Bach Mercedes tuba that went up for sale recently. I haven't received it yet, but from the photos and talking with the seller, the bell is pretty much shot. It's functional, but has holes and cracks from being bent and repaired numerous times.
From talking with another TubeNetter recently, he suggested the following for possible replacement bells:
Olds 099 (since the Bach is an Olds stencil anyway, right?), Miraphone 184, Getzen G contra bell and bottom bow, and Boosey/Besson Eb bells.
Any others?
I'm not looking to replace it right away, but does anyone have just a bell around that they might possibly sell down the road? Unfortunately, when I look for "beater" horns to use, often the most "beaten" part is the bell.
Possible bell replacements?

Ha! I could just swap 'em! That way, the bell with all the holes on the lamp would make a little light show!KiltieTuba wrote:Remove the flare and stuff a lampshade in its place
