Quick help with a mouthpiece measurement?

Post by Tubaguyry »

Good morning, folks!

I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I'm looking for a couple of measurements on a mouthpiece shank. I don't have a micrometer caliper handy, but I'm hoping one of you might!

What I need to know is:

On a Perantucci mouthpiece (plain Jane, not the "S" type), I need the O.D. measurement at the very tip of the shank (toward the tuba receiver). I also need the O.D. measurement 29 mm up from the tip (maybe just a tiiiiiiiny bit toward 30 mm), toward the cup.

If you can give me the measurement in mm, that would be great. But if all ya have is .xxx inches, that will work!

Thanks a lot, and have a great day!

My PT-48, PT 84, and PT 24+ all measure .530" (13.5 MM) at the very end of the shank. Approx 29 MM up (towards the cup), I get 15.2 MM on the PT-48. Keep in mind that these measurements are not taken with very expensive instruments, so regard them as that.

That's what I would have said, but I don't have one handy to measure.
