cleaning mouthpieces

besides using a brush how else can you clean any type of moutpiece can you use hot water if so can i take off plateing?

Toothpaste can have a similar "grit" and bleaching action. Of course....Don' t use too frequently (on the mouthpiece that is...), don' t get it in your horn, or on your clothing.
