Altieri Measurements

Post by TubaMurray »

So I'm trying to measure my PT-6 for an Altieri gig bag and I feel like an idiot. Some of my measurements contradict numbers I'm getting from sites online. Anyone have an idea of what numbers I should have to get a snug gig bag? Thanks!!

When ordering a gig bag from these guys, I created my own order sheet that inlcuded all of their standard information requirments, however I added lots pictures of my horn to show where and how I measured it.

Being across the other side of the world I did not want to have to send it back! The end result it the tuba body and bell fit great in the bags I received :D

I'm pretty sure that Donna has the measurements for a PT-6, but what she always askes me for are;

- bell diameter
- overall length
-width of body at center of bottom bow ferrules
-width of body, from mouthpiece receiver end to edge of top branch on other side
- depth of body, from top of valves to back of instrument

The only time I go into detailed drawings and extra measurements is when I'm ordering for a recording bass or a helicon. I cannot tell you how impressed I was when I received a bag that was a perfect fit for a 1918 Buescher BBb helicon, and she made it from a pencil drawing and measurements!
