Hello Folks
I am programming this piece for the fall and am looking into options for the "electric tuba" effect. Has anyone out there performed this work, and if so, what did you use?
Cheers
Nathan

Re: David Lang: Are you experienced
I believe Lang wrote it for Jay Rozen. They did record it, I believe, in the early 90s. Jay is a masterful player, based here in the NYC area. Lives on Long Island.
PM me and I'll give you Jay's email address if you like. I'm sure he'd be thrilled to talk to you about it.

I heard Jay Rozen perform the piece here in Austin with David Lang himself doing the narration. I don't think it was the premier, but it was definitely an early performance before the recording came out. Looks like the recording is out of print, but Amazon shows some other sellers with it available. It was a long time ago, but if I remember correctly Jay miked his horn and ran it through a wah-wah pedal, maybe some other effects switches and into a guitar amp.
Jay is a real nice guy and as Joe said, I'm sure he'd be happy to give you some suggestions. He could probably put you in touch with David Lang too.

Jay used a series of daisy-chained foot-pedal signal processors, much favored by electric guitar players at the time, when I saw him perform this work in maybe 1991 or so. I expect technology has improved since then.
When you talk to him again, tell him he owes me one of his CD's, heh.
