"New" Wessex F tuba.
Has anyone played this horn? Is it the same as the JinBao Model, or have they improved the intonation?
Id love to find a cheap F tuba, with a "gorgeous sound" as is described.

The New Wessex F is available in Michigan to try. Four professionals have tried to my knowledge so far with good feedback from all.
We are happy to send you with full refund if not satisfactory and returned within two weeks, as we are that confident about this improved horn.

It is entirely up to them if they wish to post. At least one is regular contributor to TubeNet, so hopefully he will post his findings, as I know there are a lot of sceptical people out there.Curmudgeon wrote:Are references about the tuba available from those individuals?
Otherwise I do hope to exhibit at the next US Army Tuba Conference and will ensure the F tuba is there for people to try.

And after Jinbao's first attempt at a 6 rotor F tuba, you can't blame them..........Neptune wrote:I know there are a lot of skeptical people out there.
Jonathan, nobody is doubting your word here, as you have been completely straight forward
with all of us when there was a horn that did NOT meet expectations, such as the the 5 valve CC
piston tuba & the 6 rotor F tuba. Keeping that in mind..........I think most people want to hear
it straight from someone who has played the new F tuba or someone that owns one.

I have played the horn. Been real busy so I haven't done a full write up. In short it is a marked improvement from the original horn. The old horn, in my opinion, was not a usable horn. This horn is a usable horn. Ill write something up in the next few days.

In addition, is there anybody available to give a writeup on the new cimbasso, or has that only been played internally at Wessex?

Re: "New" Wessex F tuba.
It is in our showroom here in the UK now available for anyone to try, although I realise that is not of much use to you in the USA. It has been tried by a couple of visiting pro players who have very liked (commented better than other cimbasso they have played), but as far as I know they don't post here. I do plan to have at the next US Army Tuba Conference, if Wessex can get trade stand (I would appreciate contact to book - if anyone knows please PM).DaTweeka wrote:In addition, is there anybody available to give a writeup on the new cimbasso, or has that only been played internally at Wessex?
