My Jr. High band director used to accuse me of kissing my dog because I had them constantly. Still do, only not as often. The answer is a prescription drug called Valacyclovir. It is an oral medication that you take as soon as you feel that tingling and tightness on your lip that tells you that a cold sore is on the way. It works miracles. If you get it into your system within 4 to 6 hours of that "here comes a cold sore feeling" you will have no cold sore symptoms at all. If you wait until the sore appears it will cut the healing time in half. There is also a prescription ointment called Denavir that works almost as well but you have to apply it every 2 hours which is a pain. Good luck. I remember marching in college and wiping the blood out of the mouthpiece. Cold sores suck!
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

I am glad it is a while between them for you. Before I got the meds I probably had one in place 20% of the time. Not good. After meds things are much better. I think I let only one get away from me last year.
