(Re)broadcast: Gene Pokorny Plays Vaughan Williams

Post by Steve Marcus »

Jaap van Zweden conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra:

Shostakovich: Chamber Symphony, Op. 110a
Vaughan Williams: Tuba Concerto in F Minor
Gene Pokorny, tuba
Beethoven: Symphony No 7 in A Major, Op 92

These performances took place May 15-17, 2012 (or at least that was the original schedule. Dates may have changed due to the G20 summit that took place that weekend in Chicago; subject to this poster's feeble memory).

(Re)broadcast is on WFMT 98.7 FM Chicago
live streamed at wfmt.com

This Sunday, October 20, at 1:00 PM CDT

Hosted by Lisa Simeone and produced by Marty Ronish, the weekly two-hour Chicago Symphony Orchestra broadcasts offer a unique format that includes dynamic and innovative content to illustrate the fascinating stories found inside the music, with insight from the performers themselves. With the powerful sounds of the CSO as their centerpiece, the broadcasts include produced segments featuring interviews with CSO musicians, guest artists, and composers, plus an exploration of the stories found within the CSO’s rich heritage of recordings and the orchestra’s illustrious history in Chicago.
