Hi-
On Lee Stofer's web page, there are some great pics--a historic Holton Del Negro ( update--Holton 'Richardson!') BBb tuba with Fred Pfaff in his Arthur Pryor uniform, another pic of the same horn after a huge restoration by Lee (owned by Mike Lynch), and a 6/4 Chicago Holton det. Bell BBb having also a big restoration.
Check them out! Great pics & great restorations Lee!

Re: Nice pics!
Just to correct any confusion, the Holton is a J. W. Richardson model.

A friend of mine owns it. It was an interesting restoration - maybe Lee will chime in and tell a few of the details he related to me. The instrument was constructed with some areas very differently as I understand it from methods that evolved just a few short years later. As usual Lee did a great job on it. It sat unused in our band library for a long time. Harvey Philips persuaded our conductor to sell it to him, but with the caveat that he could buy it back at the same price if he ever wanted to, which he did some years before Harvey's passing. Lee did the horn last summer.KiltieTuba wrote:Nice find Mark!
