Re: Sumner Erickson
Sumner still sounds really fine. He's still playing on his 186 Miraphone that he used in Pittsburgh. We've gotten together since I moved here, but I've only heard him play with the Austin Symphony Brass Quintet. I find it amazing that he also plays guitar and sings in a band, but he also still plays tuba at a very high level! He makes me wish I never sold my 1972, 186.

Eye/ear opening indeed.loving the low register resonance.reminds me of warren deck on those section recordings.

Re: Sumner Erickson
Sumner sounded really great playing on Zarathustra with the Austin Symphony recently.
He's playing with Pittsburgh on this recording of Fountains with the recently departed Lorin Maazel:

He's also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
