I've been out of the loop with family issues but in looking through threads here, I did not notice a post about the passing of Vern Kagarice. Vern was certainly in our low brass family and while he was not a tuba or euphonium player, I hope that our common goal is music.
Vern taught trombone at the University of North Texas and passed away in New York after spending the summer playing at the Chautauqua Summer Festival. He soldiered through the summer, only missing two concerts. A masterful musician, his performances were always tasteful and rewarding. His students fill teaching positions all over the US. His many friends feel an acute loss that will not be assuaged for many, many days.
An appropriate resume would take pages but the UNT faculty page is a beginning. https://music.unt.edu/faculty-and-staff/detail/55
