Warm-Ups on CC Tuba

Post by michael_glenn »

I have put together a pretty satisfying 10 minute warm-up. I liked it so much that I put it down on Finale. If you're interested in seeing and/or using it, send me a PM or an email and I will send you either the PDF or the Finale file if you so desire.
Also, you could use this on any tuba and transpose to Bb, Eb, or F. However, if you use it for bass tuba, you will need a VERY good high range that can easily take you up to C5 (on F) or Bb4 (On Eb).

As for contents, it has a chromatic exercise, lip slurs, and full range lip slurs.

After this warm-up, I then get to my major scales, minors, etc. Then I can finally start working on literature!
All in all, I really like using it as my first thing I play everyday. I truly feel warm and ready to play anything after going through all of this.

Let me know what you think!

Chris Olka did something like this with his warm-up routine.
I would consider doing that. However, with how long the video would be, I dread how long the upload would take on YouTube.
Maybe I'll do it when I have an easy Saturday.

You wouldn’t need to record all of it for folks to get the idea. The shortest and the longest of the chromatic ones. The C and Db versions of middle section plus all of the last ones on the open CC bugle.

I liked Michael’s approach that much that I in agreement with Michael will upload bass clef versions for tubas in F, Eb, CC, and BBb plus treble clef versions for euphonium, Eb tuba, and BBb tuba. So far only the CC tuba version:

I added the address you sent me into the Yahoo invitation system. The invitation should be in the inbox of that address.
