I do not understand why the BB code didn't work to show the image. my apologies for the link.

From Shorpy.com caption just says 1928 Washington D.C.

Washington, D.C., 1928. Going out on a low note: "Women with contrabass tuba" is all it says here. Harris & Ewing Collection glass negative

Interesting. Tuba looks very generiic Czech/German. Except for the spring box/paddle placements.
American sailboats, airplanes, banjos, guitars and flutes ...
Italian motorcycles and cars ...
German cameras and tubas ...

The valves themselves seem to be in the same place, only the paddle location seems to be staggered. I have never seen that before. Otherwise it seems to be a standard Cerveny style copy. I thought it was a cool looking tuba that had obviously seen some wear for a 1928 tuba.

Even before 1928 someone cared about making a tuba's valve placement fit a human hand.
The owner probably had long arms.

1, 2, and 3 are on a straight line like with many front action piston tubas.
