Blue Trombone In The NY Phil??
What's with the blue trombone sitting in front of the curtain behind the trumpet/trombone row in the first part of the concert tonight? P-Bone maybe? ... or just the lighting?

I've seen it a couple times now and it is definitely blue. I missed the first part of the concert so I can't say if it was used then, but I'm hoping to see it used in the last bit.

In my party band, our trombone player used a red P-bone for the same reasons: holiday fun.Stryk wrote:Oh my! Plastic instruments might be good enough to be used professionally? Who's a thunk it?

This is what George Curran, bass trombonist of the New York Phil said last night on facebook!
Making my tenor/P-Bone premiere with the Philharmonic tonight! The Phil will be playing live on TV at 8 pm with a red, blue, and green bone section. Happy New Year to everyone!

I really, really miss hearing George on a regular basis. In my book he is the finest bass trombonist playing right now, bar none! He can blow you away, both literally and figuratively.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.
