I'm in San pedro, California and i have yet to find a Los Angeles salvation army volunteer brass band. I play Euphonium with the palas verdes symphonic winds but i want play my Eb tuba with a brass group.
Anyone know of a active band in LA?
I might start one out of the San Pedro salvation army because they have a youth orchestra in long beach.
If anyone in LA is interested in joining or starting one please pm me.

I have a friend that plays Eb tuba in the SA Band in Long Beach, CA. I have seen the Pasadena Citadel SA Band. There is a YouTube video of a SA Band in Pomona, CA. There is a citadel in Tustin Ranch, CA that has a band. http://www.sactr.com/

I play Euphonium with the PSW and there was no charge for anything, they get help from Harbor College and ticket sales. They do play on Wednesday nights though.GregTuba79 wrote:Yeah the only reason I don't play with local community bands, they charge a bunch of money and the practices are late at night on weeknights. No go. I'd be interested in seeing what comes of your project and where you guys decide to practice or play..I am in O.C. and have family in Harbor City that I visit frequently.
When i played with the Santa Monica Community Band they just asked you to sign up at smc and help the class, cost $40 a semester but most don't pay and just show up, they also met on Wednesday nights.

The Long Beach band might be a regional band.otakuphill wrote:is the long beach band a staff or volunteer band? when i look them up all i find is the youth band.
BTW, the two community bands I play with do not charge any fees. Below is a link to the community band links page that I created on one of band websites I do. All the links are to Southern California community bands. Maybe you find one close to you that doesn't charge fees.

Just as a note one of my local bands charges $108.00 a year if you practice once a week and 2X that if you go twice. The other group, Repaz Band of Williamsport, PA is free but a little more work oriented I have heard...
