Just wanted to send a shout out to Lee Stofer for doing some excellent work on this vintage King 1241 recording tuba. I traded my old 3/4 Weril CC for it because I needed something bigger and although I miss that little horn, I can't be happier with the King. It's built like a tank and plays as loud as I can push it! Plus, Lee vented the pistons so they move lightning fast and smoother than any horn I've played. Although it looks a little scuffed up, it plays and feels like a brand new horn thanks to Lee's work and the Intonation like most other 1241/2341s is darn near perfect. I would say they don't make 'em like this anymore but King (or at least Conn-Selmer) is still making them. Now I know why.
I was going to take some pictures myself but figured the pictures Lee already took would work just as well, so here they are:
In related news, I'm now in the market for a King upright bell to accompany the recording bell.
