what's a good case to buy?

Post by vd8m9 »

i'm looking for a soft, carry-on-back case for my tuba. it is a miraphone 1291 Bb, so what would be a suitable (it fits) case that's not too expensive, is comfortable to carry, and is pretty durable. thanks

aren't they the same thing? i'm confused on which one to buy, because it would suck if it didn't fit my tuba.

I purchased the new, improved Pro-Tec gig bag for my Miraphone 1291 BBb about two months ago and have been using it since then. It is well designed with reinforcement of the bell and bottom bow sections. (I used the Mirphone bag prior to this and never liked the top loading feature or the side protection it affords.) I recommend it highly. See

If it WEREN'T for the TERRIBLE strap placement, they're "ok" bags (as this person is apparently seeking something that is NOT the most expensive).

H&B "Tuxedo" (top-loader) bags, had GOOD strap placement (for those who like top-loader bags), and good quality, but (I'm pretty sure) are no longer made.
I just purchased a ProTec bag and am happy with it. I agree about the strap placings but I can make it work as is. I paid $163 with free shipping from Dillon Music. You can't beat that. I bought the C240 model for the longer bell on my tuba.

I agree also with the "they're ok bags". I've owned Reunion Blues bags in the past and they are much better in all respects than this bag BUT this bag is working fine. I needed something to take to rehearsals without dragging the hard case out and this works just fine.

Cutty Sark isn't bad.

Sprecher Black Bavarian is great

The new formula Diet Pepsi is really pretty good, compared to anything else diet.

Or did I misunderstand the question?
