Hello,
I am a tuba student at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and I work in the Conservatory Library. The library has a large budget set asside to purchase books, scores, and recordings. The students submit request forms for anything that they feel the library should own. I would like to submit a list of CDs for the library to purchase. We have a huge collection as it is, but I would like to expand the tuba/brass CD collection a bit (recent, old, common, obscure recordings).
If you have any solo recordings and what not that are availible for purchase, could you please submit a post stating the CD title - Artist/Artists - Publisher - and/or a link where the item can be purchased? I would really like to see what I can get added to the collection.
The library pretty much purchases everything that the students need, so I thought it would be a good idea to circulate some new purchases. I hope you can help out!
Thank You very much,
Michael Roest

Re: Library Budget Purchasing CDs - Tuba and Brass
This one is a bit hard to find here, so it would be good for a library.
Hans Nickel, Cantuballada, on the Valve-Hearts label.

They don't show it any more, and I've sent them an email asking why.
In the meantime, I was able to find a copy at the World of Brass in Great Britain.

In terms of old, Bill Bell and his Tuba is a must-own. But it isn't easy to find.

Was Hans Nickel the tubist with Concertgebouw back in the mid 60's?Rick Denney wrote:This one is a bit hard to find here, so it would be good for a library.

Dunno but I don't think so. He didn't seem that old in the picture on Cantuballada. I don't have the CD handy so I can't check the bio, but I seem to recall that he's just entering his middle years.tubapress wrote: Was Hans Nickel the tubist with Concertgebouw back in the mid 60's?
