Thank you Bloke

Post by pjv »

Today I picked up my new set of Blokepieces from the post office. I have played on the old-style (2-part) Solo and Symphony with two 33.2mm rims (a flat and a roundish) for a couple of years already and have today added an Imperial and another Solo, this time with a 0 exit bore and two flat rims; 32.6m and 32.3 mm.

I'm impressed, but far more than I really expected. I tried them out on the two horns I'm using now in a show. On my 14K the Imperial (with the 32.6mm) really opened up the sound and stabilized the response in all registers. I expected a difference but this was a pleasant surprise.
What really caught me off guard was how the Solo+0 exit bore evened out the quality of my sound on the Symphonie making it very consistent through all the registers.

Of coarse this is just the honey moon. In a couple of days, after my chops settle in, I'll really find out what I can start to expect. For now I'm liking getting finer results with less effort.

I'd also like to thank Joe personally. Even though I managed to mess up important details on my order (whilst spending way too many e-mails trying to be efficient and to the point, ha ha) he came through calm and cool and got the order worked out. Also, due to extenuating circumstances, he felt inclined to make a sales proposition in my favor. And even though I later deemed this unnecessary he made good on his promise. A+ for conducting yourself as a gentleman, even though you were on duty as a salesman!

Indeed - I've always found Bloke to be a top-notch bloke.

The Imperial with the 32.6 Modified Helleberg and a half-depth spacer is also my favorite. I encourage you to experiment with the rim unscrewed varying amounts to alter the cup depth to really fine-tune the Imperial to your souzy.

Thanks for the tip iiipopes.
Henk Eb. Saw it. Will respond, just very busy with rehearsals recordings gigs and getting there. In short, yes you can and should try out what I have. Bring all your tuba friends, order 1000'ds of mpc in order to start a European market so we can try this stuff out in a boutique close to home, make Bloke rich so he can invest even more time and resources into even more and better mpc's.
Something like that.
Cheers. Pat
Ps I'll answer your specific model and measurement questions as well.
Or ask Bloke.
