M&M 4500 CC Tuba

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an M&M 4500 CC Tuba and am wondering if anyone else has any experience with this model of horn.

Since you bought the Tuba used , very possible that the first owner never maintained the instrument, or cleaned the slides or Valves

I would take the Tuba to a Tech for maintenance ,

It is a good idea to have the Instrument sanitized since you do not know who played the tuba before you

I noticed the same issues with a very flat notes using the third or fourth valves. I had never sat down with a tuner and checked out the intonation of a horn as closely as I did with this one, so I wasn't sure if it was just me or the horn. With that being said, I do enjoy playing the horn especially in the upper register.

What Miraphone model is this horn a copy of? I've been trying to find which horn it is modeled after and it looks similar to the PT-6P or a 5/4 PT-7P.

The 1295 was actually the previous horn I owned. There are a number of differences between those two horns, mostly the location of the trigger slide and room to move slides under the top bow. The M&M stamp certainly looks similar to Miraphone's.

The low register was much easier to play on the 1295 but the high register, mainly the B-flat, is better on the 4500. There are also some alternate fingerings I have to use when playing the 4500 that weren't a problem with the 1295.The 1295 is a better horn but with the price difference, the 4500 is not a bad horn at all.

I've recently acquired a M&M 4500, and was wondering how your new cut 3rd valve circuit looks like. Also, I'm fairly certain my main tuning slide is way longer than what it should be.

FWIW, I think the 4500 takes its 'inspiration' from a B&S PT-20P. The similarities are the closest I've seen (compared to other tubas mentioned).
