700 series, my guess is a fixed bell front.
And it's already sold (not to me)

The brace under the lead pipe on the bell stack in front is a giveaway. For some reason, they didn't add that brace on the upright bell versions (at least in my experience, anyway).

It looks like an Eb, unless it's a really big horn, in which case it looks to be in CC. Certainly not in BBb but most likely in Eb.
If anyone knows more about this horn, I'd like to know.

Re: Milwaukee CL: mystery tuba
It could be in BBb, the lack of a double loop in the 3rd valve circuit threw me.lost wrote:I have an eb and a Bb in this wrap. Pretty sure it's a Bb.
It's hard knowing what something is by only seeing a small portion, non scale picture.

Re: Milwaukee CL: mystery tuba
I snagged this horn. It's an original 1928 York 4/4 BBb upright bell with the original case. It came out of the Waukesha school system. They phased these old horns out in the late 1970s and the student who played it at the time bought it. He played it for another year and then it sat in a closet for 35 years. The guy who put it on craigslist is the guy who is cleaning out the estate. Its had a bow pull and has some dents and dings, but nothing too terrible. The valves are in very good condition for a horn from 1928. That being said, it plays just great.

That tuba must have spent a lot of its 50 school years in the closet, is my guess.

Re: Milwaukee CL: mystery tuba
I used to own 716 (4 valves) from the 1930's in absolutely gorgeous condition (pics here). These horns are great players (still occasionally get emails from the new owner about the horn... they're happy to say the least) and will kick the pants off of a 2341 (new or old) any day of the week.
