So here I am with an Eb tuba, trying to get used to reading with it, so I pick up this classic.

And it occurs to me that one of the purposes of this book -- perhaps one of the things that makes it "practical" -- is to get kids used to the things beyond oom-pah they are going to need to be good at to play Sousa marches.
