I think the greatest "tell" as to the potential quality of these instruments is that the pictures SHOW the third valve to be either:
1. having a VERY short stem
2. severely out of alignment
3. sans spring
Thinking I'll pass on this one...

If it's got such a "short throw" third valve, than maybe what it's compensating for is a little more Freudian...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
