Sealy Posturpedic mattress fail.

Post by oldbandnerd »

I had to replace my king size Sealy Postturpedic mattress after only 5 years of use . What a collosal waste of money. I hate throwing money away on really expensive beds but I have back issues and can't sleep on soft or worn out mattress's. Has anyone else had experience with Sealy be just a really s****y made bed? I can't remember a mattress not lasting more than 5 years. My patents had one for over 20 years and it wasn't in as bad shape as this piece of crap after 5 .

I wouldn't get near anything like that, too plastic factory for me. Space age foams like that off-gas various fumes that I don't wish to experiment with, so you're welcome to all mine, I'll sleep on the floor if necessary to make the foam mattress available to whoever wants it.

Of course, compared to chemical foam, alternatives tend to be expensive. Some of them maybe gone? It seems to me that mattresses came along before foam. Well, it's past my bedtime, so got to go hit the futon.

Joe,
I am indeed a big ole boy but my wife isn't so big. Her side worn out as well although not to the extent of mine. Yeah, size does matter.
But, I've been a "fatty, fatty two by four"most of my life and have never had a mattress fail as quickly as this one. The previous one lasted 15 years.

I need some bacon.

We bought a Beautyrest (king size) for $ 570.00 from the Sears Scratch&Dent store to replace the old one. It was tough to put out that much money. But, I take comfort in the fact that we paid less than half of the full retail and I didn't have to pay for delivery of the new one or removal of the old. I did that myself. The new one is really firm and really comfortable too. I don't wake up with aching back now.

I remember about 6 or 7 years ago, I was shopping for new mattresses for some of my kids. The guy at the mattress store raved on about some "barely used" ones that "had been used for only one week". Upon further grilling (with absolutely no intention of buying them, regardless of how "lightly used" they were), he finally (most reluctantly) gave up the info that they had been used at the 40th anniversary Woodstock festival up in Bethel.

That's "ick".....

That. Is. Disgusting.
