David Mayfield

Post by Alex C »

For those of you who may know David, this is a sad time. He passed away this afternoon in Houston at M.D. Anderson hospital, from complications due to cancer.

David was a fine musician and a marvelous tuba player, who'd studied with Harvey Phillips and Arnold Jacobs. He graduated with an MM from Wisconsin. He spent many years teaching in Niceville, Florida and playing quite a bit in the Panhandle of Florida.

He has many former students and colleagues in different fields, I thought some might be lurking here.

Don Snowden, who sat next to him for nearly 20 years at the Pensacola Symphony informed me of his passing shortly ago. My heart is feeling low on this. He was a good man and a fine musician as has been said.
