Batman Begins

Post by Matt G »

Okay, I haven't seen Star Wars yet, but I figure that this new Batman movie is simply better. :P

The film is much more like a comic book (graphic novel) and is darker than even the Tim Burton offereings.

Reason this film is good: No reference to that crapholio TV show by the same name or a quality that make it feel like the Movie is an extension of Adam West's wonderful acting skills.

Of course Michael Kane and Morgan Freeman do a lot to help the movie.

If the director stays on and they can keep the acting crew together, this good be just as promising as the new Spidey movies.

Discuss.

It is good.

Dark, light it should be for the Dark Knight.

Batman doesn't say/do silly things.

Very little humor in the film.

The characters seem larger than life, while not being rediculous.

Not a ton of whiz-bang SFX or CGI (hard to tell if it is).

Batman under the psychotropic toxin is scarier than any other character in the film.

You get a sense that Bruce Wayne is only a few steps from being the biggest threat imaginable to good.

Bad guys are just bad guys, nothing over-the-top.

I haven't seen it yet, but it makes me sad. I was actually considered to do the score. I took two meetings at Warner's regarding the movie. Oh well. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard know what they're doing. I'm a nobody when it comes to big Hollywood productions. I can't expect the big budget pictures yet.

I still can't wait to see it.

It wasn't all for nothing though. I just got a call about scoring a new Twilight Zone type of series by the producers of 24. I hope it works out. We'll see.

Kind of like the folks saying they hoped EpIII would be better than EpI. :P

I'm hearing nothing but good things about Batman, though. I'm hearing "better than Burton's Batman." That's setting the bar pretty high, so I'm looking forward to it.

Because Batman is cool. :D

Did anyone else think that Liam Neeson was perfect in this movie? This movie restored my confidence that he can both act and fight, something Geo. Lucas had taken 6 years ago.

Great movie. Equal with the first Burton version, IMHO.

You know, this was the best behaved audience I've seen a movie with in a long time. (loooooooooooooooooong)

Granted, it was an 11:30 Saturday show, so there weren't many people there. The last movie I saw was "Madagascar"---completely different story. Theatre full of kids too young to see any movie, much less an animated movie that was too 'enlightened' for most of the adults in the theatre (my brother, me, and another mid-20's guy behind us were the only ones who laughed at most of the jokes/references, particularly the Twilight Zone, Planet of the Apes, and National Geographic hints).

Theatres are the one place where the libertarian inside me dies and I really want certains things to be made a capital offense (such as bringing 2-year olds that cry into the theatre, cell phones, and talking during the movie). :?

Happy farters' day, Joe.

Gee, I always like Adam as Batman.

Of course he wasn't fond of the role, as required of him. I think he's often judged by that show, which was not really his creation. He played the role as directed.

I too went for Father's Day. Very cool, although one must certainly suspend any grip on reality to watch this. This was one of the few movies I have seen recently where the audience actually applauded at the end. I wonder who they think is listening?
